Surf film festival captures the sport’s beauty and diversity
Drop in at the Honolulu Museum of Art for the rest of this month and get tubed. The Fifth Annual Surf Film Festival, which starts this weekend and runs through July 31, will screen 16 films that, like waves and the people who ride them, depict the sport as a multifaceted and beautiful thing. Filming the sport has become so popular that Gina Caruso, curator of film for the museum, said she has had plenty of films to pick from year after year, choosing films that have a positive message and avoid crass commercialism.
