Quick Bites: Waiahole Poi, Stage, Hiroshi, more

Daily poi: The Waiahole Poi Factory is now open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The historic factory, owned by master Hawaiian implement maker Calvin Hoe, wife Charlene and their three sons, will be open seven days a week except for major holidays.
The menu includes laulau, kalua pig, squid luau, beef luau and chicken long rice plates ($8.35). You can also order combo plates of two ($10.50) or mini plates and sides ($5 to $6.50).
Try hoio (fern) salad on the side for $3. Hand-pounded poi (1 pound) is also available for $8.
Waiahole Poi Factory is at 48-140 Kamehameha Highway (corner of Waiahole Valley Road). Call 239-2222 for takeout orders.
Ovation: Stage restaurant will host an Ovation Wine Dinner featuring Duckhorn Vineyards of Napa Valley on Monday.
Start with an amuse bouche of Kona Kampachi tartare caviar with crispy papadum paired with Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc 2010.
Act One is a butter-poached Kona lobster with grilled Kahuku corn polenta paired with Migration Chardonnay 2009.
Act Two is black summer truffle risotto with a soft-poached egg paired with Goldeneye Pinot Noir, Mendocino County, 2009.
Act Three is pan-roasted beef tenderloin paired with a merlot or cabernet.
Top it all off with an organic, lemon-olive oil custard tart, poached pear and truffle-infused ice cream.
Dine family style, with seatings available at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.; $125 at Stage inside the Honolulu Design Center, 1250 Kapiolani Blvd. (between Pensacola and Piikoi streets). 237-5429.
Locally grown: Hiroshi Eurasian Tapas’ final August dinners, offering a locally grown menu, will take place Sunday and Monday.
The menu starts with Hawaiian Kampachi sushi, followed by crispy Kauai shrimp and Mrs. Cheng’s tofu and a main course of five-spiced monchong.
Dessert is a pineapple upside-down cake with dulce de leche ice cream.

Eguren Ugarte at Wolfgang: Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener in Waikiki is offering a special dinner on Aug. 31, featuring award-winning wines from Eguren Ugarte Winemakers in Laguardia, Spain. The offering will be limited to 40 guests.
The four-course menu begins with crab cakes paired with Mercedes Eguren Sauvignon Blanc 2010, followed by lamb paired with Heredad Ugarte Crianza 2007 and rib-eye steak paired with Martin Cendoya Reserva 2006.
Dessert is a chocolate mousse cake paired with Mercedes Eguren Cabernet 2009.
