The Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s entertainment website,, was named a finalist in Editor & Publisher’s EPPY Awards for the second year in a row this week. The annual competition honors the best websites in 31 categories.

The Pulse was named a finalist in the Best Entertainment Website (with under 1 million unique monthly visitors) category along with the Greenspun Media Group, and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. More than 60 judges spent four weeks deliberating before the finalists were named; winners will be announced via E&P’s website on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

According to organizers, “each EPPY entry is judged on its own merits within a particular category. Finalists must receive a score in the top one third of the average score across all categories within their division.” Entries were evaluated on content, design, usability and other factors.

The Pulse, which launched in 2010, averages approximately 206,000 unique visitors and 7 million pageviews per month while providing in-depth and breaking entertainment and dining news; photo galleries of parties, concerts and community events; blogs covering nightlife, music, food, fashion, film and television; reviews of stage shows, films and concerts; videos and more.
