Food La La: Genki launches new tech
BY LINDSEY MURAOKA / Special to the Star-Advertiser
Hawaii residents don’t have to wait until 2019 for rail — Genki Sushi at Ala Moana Center renovated their restaurant to offer a new, double-rail sushi delivery system. This is the first rail system to be introduced in the United States, and Genki Sushi has plans to eventually renovate all of their Hawaii locations to feature the technology.
Yasumasa Sudo, President of Genki Sushi USA and Yoko Kato, Director of Genki Sushi USA were both in attendance.
The rail is high tech and runs on magnetic tracks. Ordering is easy with the touch screen panels. You can put in four orders at a time.
The touchscreen is detachable so you can pass it around and other people at your table can place an order.
Food arrives on a bullet train, car, fish, space shuttle, or surfboard.
Our order arrived on a surf board!
After you’re done taking your plates, press the return button to send the delivery vehicle back. Simple and fun!
Here are some of the dishes my table ordered:
These crab stuffed mushrooms were addicting!
I always order seared seafood items whenever I go to Genki.
Seared Ahi Nigiri.
My favorite dessert is green tea ice cream. Look how pretty the color is!
Genki Ala Moana is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. For more information, visit www.genkisushiusa.com
