Freestyle: Off to Burning Man
BY ELIZABETH KIESZKOWSKI / firstname.lastname@example.org
Aloha! After a crowded flight to San Francisco, a prop-plane fueled hop to Sacramento, a stop for groceries in Oroville and a drive through the glorious buttes of Butte County and up the ridge into Paradise, I am at my first mainland stop along the way to Burning Man.
It’s been a long trip, and I’ve been really hustling to get ready. I’m going to spend the next few days provisioning and making the trek to Black Rock City with my travel partner, a good friend who lives in California.
While in California, I’ll pick up a sleeping bag, water, bungie cords and groceries. I’m visiting friends and family, and the weather is great.
What I need to tell you right now is that I’ll be posting again from the playa after I get set up in Black Rock City. We head out on Sunday, Aug. 25. Rain and thunderstorms might delay the installation of our hexayurt, so I am paying close attention to the weather.
There will be a photo shoot on Wednesday, Aug. 28, for Hawaii burners; we’ll meet at the Man. Check out Ka Pilina, a Hawaii regional burners organization, for details.
Also on Sunday, a story about Burning Man will appear on the Star-Advertiser web site. Check it out! And follow me here on the Pulse for more updates from Burning Man.
