Quick Bites: Oktoberfest, HFD benefit, beer dinner

Oktoberfest at Outrigger: Outrigger Reef on the Beach holds its first Oktoberfest celebration on its Diamond Head Terrace from Thursday through Oct. 19.
Chef Guido Ulmann will prepare traditional dishes including kasseler rippchen (smoked pork loin), bratwurst (pork sausage), bockwurst (veal sausage), spaetzle (pasta), German potato salad, sauerkraut and Bavarian apple-raisin strudel. Food is available a la carte, at $13.50 to $32 for entrees.
Schweinehaxe (a 3-pound, roasted ham shank) served with sauerkraut and German mashed potatoes may be pre-ordered ($32).
Sam Adams’ Oktoberfest seasonal craft brew will be available by glass or pitcher, along with a selection of rieslings.
Oktoberfest takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. at the hotel, 2169 Kalia Road. The Edelweiss Trio performs 6 to 9 p.m. each evening. Cover charge is $10. Call 924-6025.
Foodfest for firefighters: The Honolulu Firefighters Foundation hosts its annual Signature Chefs Food Festival from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18.
Participating restaurants include Beachhouse at the Moana, Chef Chai, Liliha Bakery, Poke Stop and Side Street Inn.
The festival takes place at Honolulu Fire Department Headquarters, 636 South St. Cost is $150 or $2,000 for a table of eight. Proceeds benefit the Honolulu Firefighters Foundation and its mission to promote, educate and support public safety.

Harvest Moon Beer Dinner: Seaside Grill at The Kahala Hotel & Resort is offering a Harvest Moon Beer Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18.
Six food stations will offer dishes paired with specialty ales from Kona Brewing Co.
Some items on the menu: Moroccan-spiced chicken skewers, yuzu-marinated salmon, duck fat roasted heirloom carrots, grilled Kahuku corn with chipotle cilantro butter, lumpia- wrapped fish, Molokai sea salt-baked pears and roast pork summer rolls with goat cheese and bacon jalapeno poppers. Desserts include “Beer-A-Misu,” a tiramisu with stout syrup.
