Spooky ‘Frankenfood’: Join the Hawaii Food Policy Council for a “Frankenfood” party from 6 to 11 p.m. today at Sweet Home Waimanalo, 41-1025 Kalanianaole Highway, with a costume contest, prizes and discussion about the “scarier aspects of our food system” as well as opportunities for change.
Drinks are on the house, but food is on your own. Sweet Home Waimanalo is open until 7 p.m., with a menu of salads, sandwiches and slow-smoked meats.

Pumpkin sculptor at Surf: Ray Villafane, acclaimed “Picasso” of pumpkin sculpting and two-time champion of Food Network’s “Outrageous Pumpkins,” makes an appearance at the Surf Lanai’s Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday to demonstrate his art.

As staff wears fringed dresses and fedoras to get into the Halloween spirit, the establishment’s bartenders will bring back cult favorites including the “12-Mile Limit” (white rum, Calvados and Swedish punsch), the “Last Word” (gin, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Green Chartreuse and fresh lime juice) and Ward 8 (rye whiskey, fresh lemon juice, orange juice, house grenadine).
