FIRST FRIDAY IN CHINATOWN: The monthly First Friday Art Walk returns with music, performances, art, DJs, trunk shows, happy hours and extended shop and gallery hours from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday in the Downtown-Chinatown Arts and Cultural District.

April’s highlights include:

» Art at the Capitol, featuring over 500 works of public art, 4:30 p.m. at the State Capitol, third floor
» Red Lantern, featuring a Secret Beer Garden; New Chinese Downtempo Lounge and Hawaiian selections by DJ Native Girl; sneak peek at the 21st Century Loku House event and its Hawaiian games; lighting of the Storytelling Portraits of Chinatown’s Seniors window boxes; and the Chinatown Artist Loft galleries upstairs open for viewing, 5-11 p.m. at the Mendonca Building, 1126 Smith St.
» Mark Feijao Milligan II art exhibit opening reception, 6 to 9 p.m. at Soul De Cuba Cafe, 1121 Bethel St.; (808) 545-2822

ONG KING TURNS 8: After the First Friday festivities finish, head to Ong King for a birthday celebration featuring round two of the Hawaii Burlesque Festival Tassel Twirl-O-Thon, live art, acrobatics, improv by Think Fast, belly dancing by Shakti Dance Movement, live music by Ashley Lilinoe, Coda Pierce, Ninja Please, Samurai Funktion and Neon Dreams, burlesque by Cherry Blossom Cabaret and a drag show.

KAWAII KON: The annual anime convention returns to take over the Hawai’i Convention Center this weekend. Hours are 9 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday; registration begins at 9 a.m. daily.
