Blue Marlin plans summer opening in Waikiki

Imagine finding small plates, banana leaf laulau and poke all in one place. Blue Marlin, a new restaurant opening June 27 in Waikiki, will offer three distinct dining areas and menus.
George’s Corporation, a Hawaii subsidiary of Japan-based Toridoll Corp., will open and manage the innovative, three-concept seafood restaurant at the former Matteo’s Italian Cafe Spot on Seaside Avenue. The renovated space evokes a rustic, surf shack feel, with banquette seating and custom-designed artwork from Japanese and local artists. A private dining area can also be reserved for parties (30 seated guests or cocktail reception for 50 people).
Blue Marlin Restaurant, a casual, family-friendly venue, will offer signature menu items including the Banana Leaf Lau Lau and Paella. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Blue Marlin Tapas & Sushi Bar will offer small plates and sushi prepared the traditional way, along with an extensive wine list. A selection of $5 dishes will be offered all day, every day. Hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
HI Tide Poke Cafe will offer a wide selection of poke styles and flavors for dine-in or grab-and-go before heading to the beach from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The cafe’s signature is a made-to-order Chazuke Poke Bowl served with green tea or dashi poured over rice.
“We are excited to open our doors in Waikiki and be part of this exciting, vibrant community,” George’s Corporation president Masato George Kanemoto said in a release. “We invite both local residents and visitors to experience our distinctive take on popular favorites, while also embracing culinary adventure by trying some of our unique menu items.
“Our commitment is to celebrate and showcase the abundance of fresh ingredients the Hawaiian islands have to offer in every dish we prepare.”
