The place opens Thursday, May 1, to the public. Regular hours are 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Reach-in open until 7 p.m.

The sandwich counter occupies a corner of PAD, a furniture and interior design shop by interior decorator Lauren Makk that opened four weeks ago.

“We’re not doing full meals, so we’re kind of emphasizing the snack part of it. It’s just another dining option,” said Noguchi, who among his many culinary accomplishments is known for opening Taste a few doors down and for creating healthy meals for Hawaiian Airlines staff at Lunchbox.

The space was formerly occupied by a kiosk operated by Manoa-based Morning Glass Coffee; Noguchi used to hang out there with friends and when the space became available, he jumped at the chance.

Offerings so far are simple: a turkey sandwich, an egg salad sandwich and a kale wrap, with cookies and scones by Kimberly Oi.

“The menu’s definitely going to stay small,” Noguchi said. “We kind of have the philosophy of less is more. So keep it tight — and change it up.”
