Hawaii’s biggest shopping mall, Ala Moana Center, has over 200 retail stores and last week it welcomed Japanese fashion brand Samantha Thavasa.
Models like Tinsley Mortimer, Taylor Momsen and Actress Yoon Eun Hye have been seen wearing and representing the brand. The beautifully blue and whimsically storefront is located near by Martin & MacArthur and has a handful of lines to choose from.
Kazu Terada founded the company with three friends on a single collection of handbags in 1994. Since then the company has expanded to 17 different collections and collaborating with some of the worlds leading and upcoming designers.
With over 250 stores and wanting to reach international markets outside of Japan, the company built its first U.S. store on New York’s Madison Avenue. The New York store is currently in the process of relocation, currently making the Honolulu storefront the only U.S. store in operation.
“We chose Honolulu because of the high-in bound traffic of people that come from Asian countries such as Japan and Korea,” said Terada. “The Honolulu store will almost be like a showcase for Asian tourists as well as tourists from other countries and demographics that we have yet to reach.”
The store currently has seven different collections, like the signature Samantha Thavasa Collection. There are two different leather textures within the collection. One has a subtle texture to it and the other resembles a crocodile look with a gold locket featured in the front. Its sophisticated style is a great addition to your business meeting attire or need a hint of luxury but at an affordable price. For this collection, bags prices start around $255.
Another fun and matte finished collection of the brand is the Samantha Thavasa Petit Choice. It too has a subtle grid texture but instead of a golden locket has a gold bow and matching gem in the front. The petit collection offers leather good and accessories such as coin purses, wallets, and key holders. A more casual yet fashionable look, it’s made durably for everyday use.
For the women golfers this brand has two collections and the Samantha Thavasa Under 25 helps you look swanky on the green. The colorful checker patterns and embroidery on the shoulder adds a little character to the collections line of polo shirts. This collection also offers eye-catching gloves ($65) and playful socks ($27).
The Samantha Thavasa No.7 golf collection is a more refined look when it comes to style. Offering skirts in spring floral patterns and polo shirts with crest inspired designs, women can also add protective visors to match their skirts.
Accessories that add a little hint of personalization are the handbag charms. The common charm that many see on the bags hold one initial along with a gold-plated chains and white dangling pearls. If you want to add a little more bling to the bag, buy the gold-plated key lock with jeweled flowers. Charms range between $29-$48.
The brand also offers a hard-shell luggage collection for your travel needs. The hard-shell outside with graffiti design helps protect your belongings from the external environment. While the inside of the luggage is lined with a bright pink breathable and durable material along with compartments that help make packing easier with detachable fasteners.
You can also purchase glassware such as Victorian gold-rimmed drinking classes ($19) that would be great for wine, tea cups ($19) and matching tea spoons with a printed initial ($16).
For a limited time, customers will receive one mini-mini Azayle coin purse with any purchase of $200 or more.
