Celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto is asking his friends and fans to roll with him — literally — on Maui this weekend.

The star of “Iron Chef” and “Iron Chef America” will be in Wailea to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Morimoto Maui on Sunday with a lavish, seven-course omakase dinner.

But before the food is served, Morimoto will supervise the creation of a 90-foot maki roll starting at 5:30 p.m. at the restaurant. This isn’t his first time going (really) big with his sushi, either — he was in Miami in September to lead the staff of Morimoto Miami in rolling a 120-foot sushi roll.

Tickets for Sunday’s anniversary dinner are $185 per person, which includes a spot in the lineup to help create the super-sized sushi roll, a sake and wine reception with Morimoto and the dinner itself. Call (808) 243-4766 for reservations.

Oahu residents may also have a chance for a Morimoto sighting of their own, as the chef will be on Oahu for Thanksgiving this year. No word if he’ll be in the kitchen on the holiday itself, however.
