Food La La: Doughlicious Pizza

As 2014 comes to an end, I thought it would be nice to indulge in one of my favorite foods: pizza!

Doughlicious has been open for about two months in Samsung Plaza on Keeaumoku St. and is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Greg and Lani Au. Greg has been making pizza for years, formerly at Magoo’s Pizza on S. King St. His secret tomato sauce and thin, crispy crust is what brings pizza fanatics back time and time again.

Greg and Lani run the place entirely by themselves. Greg even does pizza deliveries on his moped within a three-mile radius of the shop!

They have a selection of 12 specialty pizzas to choose from, or you can create your own combination. After a long decision making process — I was hungry and everything sounded good! — and suggestions from Lani, I decided to order a medium size pie that was half Lanikai and half Sriracha.

The Lanikai is one of their popular pizzas with shrimp, bacon, pineapple and jalapeno. The Sriracha is topped with chicken, shrimp, bell peppers and a drizzle of sriracha sauce.


The pizza sizes include 12 inches ($16.50), 14 inches ($19.95), 16 inches ($27.90) and 17 inches in the size of a square ($33.99). Their most popular pizza is the Doughlicious Classic Combo, topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, onions and mixed bell peppers. A popular vegetarian option is their Shaved Zucchini pizza with spinach, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes.

If pizza is not your thing, there are also hot and cold sandwiches available on 12-inch toasted baguettes for $10.75.

It takes only a few minutes in the oven for the pizzas to come out beautifully with their crispy garlic buttery crusts.


I loved the Lanikai! It had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. The pineapple countered the oiliness of the bacon and the jalapeño gave it a nice added flavor of spice! I would order it again.

The Sriracha was good too if you like sriracha, of course! I added extra sauce because I like it spicy. I love thin crust pizzas because I don’t feel so heavy and full after.


I also tried their garlic bread topped with homemade marinara (12-inch for $6.99 or 18-inch for $9.99). The garlic bread is cooked in foil so it comes out nice and crisp with all of its buttery glory!


Dessert pizza was recently added to the menu with fruit toppings changed daily. On the day I visited, the special was topped with banana, honey, cinnamon, chocolate chips, Nutella and vanilla ice cream. Make sure to save room for dessert because it’s worth it the splurge! I will definitely come back for more pizza in the near future.
