BY MICHELLE RAMOS / firstname.lastname@example.org
Go for the cleanse: Are you starting to feel the post-holiday heaviness from all those delicious treats? Lanikai Juice is coming to your rescue. Beginning this week, the juice spot has added a Wiki Wiki Juice Cleanse — “designed to give your digestive system a break from processing heavy proteins, fats and other components in your diet” — to its menu.
The cleanse is available in one- or two-day offerings and contains a six-pack of juices featuring local in-season fruits and veggies. There are also novice and advanced programs available. Order yours by calling 262-2378 or by contacting the Lanikai Juice near you. (An advance notice of 48 hours is needed.) If you place your order this month, a 10 percent discount will be applied to the cost.
‘A Trio of Under the Radar Cabernets': Vino’s next wine tasting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday. The cabernets featured: 2008 Kathryn Kennedy Cabernet Sauvignon “Estate,” 2007 Realm “The Falstaff” and 2009 DR Stephens Cabernet Sauvignon “Moose Valley.” Cost: $39. Reserve by calling 533-4476 or email Cheryle at email@example.com.
Meal deal: Ryan’s Grill at Ward Center is offering a three-course meal for $19.95 through Feb. 2. The set menu consists of three starters, four entrees and two desserts; diners can choose one item from each group. The price also includes iced tea, coffee or a soda. Call 591-9132.
Chomp on this: 12th Ave Grill is offering Kauai’s Makaweli Tomahawk Chop for seven lucky parties. The king-size, bone-in, hormone- and antibiotic-free rib-eye steak will be alaea crusted and pan-seared. It will be served with Ho Farms roasted eggplant ratatouille and Small Kine Farms crimini mushroom-asparagus risotto. The supper, which serves four, is available for $160 plus tax and tip. Preorder payment is required with reservation. Call 732-9469 for this special Sunday supper.
Chocoholics take note: MW Restaurant is offering a chance to taste a variety of island-made chocolate, not only in its sweet form, but in savory dishes as well. The restaurant’s Chocolate Cafe, which will be in the eatery’s new private dining room, will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 25 with plates ranging from $3 to $18. No reservations are required. MW plans on holding a different event every month. Stay tuned or call 955-6505.
Maui’s Jamba Juice has it first: Jamba Juice Hawaii launched a new freshly squeezed line of juices at its Maui locations earlier this month with Kolten Wong of the St. Louis Cardinals making his first appearance as the company’s new spokesman. The six juices — Citrus Kick, Tropical Greens, Veggie Harvest, Garden Medley, Carrot Cayenne and Orange Reviver — will not have any artificial ingredients or additional sugar added. The new line is scheduled to hit Oahu in June.
Word around the water cooler: Talk around Restaurant Row is that a Japanese restaurant is taking Kissaten’s spot at the Waterfront Plaza. The eatery is scheduled to have a soft opening in February.
