Tasting menu at Alan Wong’s: Chef Alan Wong and chef de cuisine Miya Nishi­mura have created a seven-course tasting menu to celebrate the restaurant’s 20th anniversary. The prix fixe menu will be available indefinitely and begins with an amuse bouche of Maka­weli beef pastrami; poached shrimp and somen noodles; ahi poke, uni and opihi; foie gras and clams; Kea­hole seared abalone; tila­pia with ham; Nii­hau Ranch eland; and a Please Eat Your Peas dessert made of fresh peas and Kula strawberries. Newbie at Kahala Mall: Puka’s bar opened last week in Kahala Mall as part of Whole Foods Market, featuring 24 beers on tap, wines by the glass, a gluten-free tap line, Italian-style sodas and a wide array of food. Beginning May 25 the bar will offer pau hana food specials and $1 off draft beer and wine by the glass from 4 to 7 p.m. In June, look for wine- and beer-pairing dinners and live entertainment. Puka’s is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 738-0820.

It’s spring at Mariposa: To welcome the new season, executive chef Marc Anthony Freiberg has changed things up at the eatery on the third floor of Neiman Marcus in Ala Moana Center. The new spring menu replaces the restaurant’s Kona coffee-smoked pork chop with a kiawe-smoked pork chop and its seared diver scallops with quinoa-crusted sea scallops. Other menu newbies include the Green, Grains & Nuts Salad available for lunch and Grilled Australian Wagyu Burger available during dinner. To reserve call 951-3403.

Wine-pairing dinner: “A Dinner With the Miller Family of Bien Nacido Vineyards” will be held at 6 p.m. May 26 at d.k Steak House. Wine from the California vineyard will be paired with a menu of locally grown items by executive chef Albert Balbas. Enjoy a four-course meal of natural beef poke paired with 2011 J Wilkes Pinot Blanc, Santa Maria Valley; bacon-wrapped scallops with 2012 chardonnay, Santa Maria Valley; Shinsato Farms pork chop with 2011 pinot noir, Santa Maria Valley; and ganache-covered decadence cake with coffee or tea. There will also be an intermezzo of Red Wine and Tahitian Vanilla Bean Poached Bartlett Pear Salad. Cost: $70. Limited seating. Reserve at 931-6280. Kickstarter launch party: Island Mana Wines is holding a Winery Kickstarter Launch Party for its Oregon winery.
