Year of the Beer: Gordon Biersch’s yearlong event continues this month with Tuesday specials. On Tuesday sign up for the brewery tour and lager tasting from 5 to
6 p.m. On June 16 enjoy the Sommerbrau tapping party from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Don’t forget to make your reservation for the June 23 Brewer’s Dinner featuring chef David Saccomanno and brewmaster Jeff Liles combining their skills for a delicious beer-pairing meal. Reserve at 387-5674. To close out the month, talk story with Liles during the Brewer’s Happy Hour, 5 to 6 p.m. June 30. For information, including costs, on any of the events call 599-4877. Summer deal: Morton’s The Steakhouse in Ala Moana Center is offering a four-course menu for $49. Diners have a choice of an appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. Make your reservations soon, if this appeals, because the special is only good through June 26. Reserve at 949-1300.

Golden anniversary: Wholesale Unlimited Inc., which sells more than 450 different snack items including a variety of crack seed, cookies and more, turns 50 this month. To celebrate and thank people for their patronage, the company is offering a “scratch card promotion. Customers can win discounts, products and gift baskets” for this month only. Pick up a card at a Wholesale Unlimited near you. The snack shop has seven locations — Waipahu, Manoa, Mapunapuna, Kaneohe, Pearl City, Kahala and Keeaumoku.

Vino will be back (soon): Diners who mourned over Vino’s closing can celebrate because the restaurant is returning to Waterfront Plaza (formerly known as Restaurant Row), albeit in a different location — Suite 6F on the ground level, near the former site. The opening date isn’t set yet but it’s expected to be around Sept. 1, restaurateurs said. The usual suspects will still be at the helm: Keith Endo as executive chef, Ann Taketa as general manager, Cheryle Furuya as private dining coordinator and Chuck Furuya as master sommelier. Stay tuned.
