“I am my music,” said singer-songwriter Ashley Lilinoe. “I take time to grow.”
Born on Oahu and raised in a musical household on the island’s east side, she picked up an ukulele at the age of 6 and learned how to play by watching older family members and mimicking what she saw and heard.
At 12, she began writing her own songs and poetry, but it wasn’t until high school that the artist born Ashley Adams-Soderberg discovered her love for composing music with a guitar. Offering up a sound she describes as “acoustic neo-soul meets jazzy R&B flowing with a bluesy reggae all in one source kind of force,” Lilinoe dropped out of college after one semester, opting instead to follow her heart and live adventurously through her original songs.
