Grind Time: Regal Bakery opens in McCully
BY JASON GENEGABUS / firstname.lastname@example.org
Fans of popular doughnut shop Regal Bakery don’t have to drive to the airport area to get their fix anymore, after a second bakery location opened in McCully this week.
Located within Regal Diner at McCully Shopping Center, a variety of cake doughnuts are for sale. Affordably priced (we picked up a box of six doughnuts for a little more than $7) and dressed up with toppings one might expect to find on cupcakes elsewhere in Honolulu, the cupcakes have already found a following before tomorrow’s “official” grand opening.
Along with traditional powdered and glazed doughnuts, Regal also offers a special “donut of the month” (this month’s was Red Velvet; starting tomorrow it’s Rocky Road) and a variety of specialty doughnuts.
A stop at the new McCully location turned up some unique offerings, including a creme brulee-inspired doughnut and one topped with frosting and what appeared to be Frosted Flakes breakfast cereal. Chocolate fans will be happy with Regal’s chocolate-covered chocolate doughnut, too.
In honor of National Doughnut Day tomorrow, June 1, both the original Regal Bakery and the new McCully Shopping Center locations will offer one free doughnut to customers, while supplies last.
The new McCully location is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Visit Regal Bakery’s Facebook page for updates.
