Outtakes Online: Maggie Q bares all

BY MIKE GORDON / mgordon@staradvertiser.com

When it comes to the fight against global warming, Maggie Q isn’t afraid to bare her feelings — and a whole lot more.

In an effort to call attention to the issue, the Hawaii actress stripped down so an artist could paint her body with a map of the earth and a celebrity photographer could capture her North and South America. Maggie, who stars in the CW series “Nikita,” wants people to become vegetarians as a way to fight one of the leading causes of climate change — the meat industry.

The publicity campaign was sponsored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which today unveiled a billboard of Maggie on the Sunset Strip at La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles.

PETA claims the meat industry is a leading cause of greenhouse-gas emissions that are having a negative effect on climate. It cites researchers at the University of Chicago who concluded that a meatless diet has a more positive effect on the climate than buying a hybrid car.

In any case, Maggie believes that by eating plants she is not hurting anyone and that she looks and feels healthier. One glance at the billboard and you’ll probably agree.

“Nikita” is in the middle of its third season.

Peta is a phony group more into making headlines than anything else.
