Ko Olina Resort kicks off a new, weekly feature on Saturday, March 16, that is free and open to the general public.
“Call of the Mermaids” is an interactive, one-hour production designed for families and local residents in addition to guests at nearby resorts.
According to a press release, Hawaiian mythology portrays mermaids, or “wahine hi’u i’a,” as “mesmerizing, beautiful and powerful, similar to the ocean. … They share their stories through mythic tales and hula.”
“Call of the Mermaids” will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturdays through April at Ko Olina’s Nai‘a Lagoon 3; performances include a “sunset greeting” and photo opportunity with a mermaid. Limited parking is available at Ko Olina (parking lots will close shortly after performances end at 7 p.m.).
