Looking forward to turkey and all the trimmings and fixings for Thanksgiving without having to spend the day slaving in the kitchen? Honolulu stores and restaurants can help. There are dozens off ready-to-go turkey meals available for purchase, and they’re usually ready for pick up the day before or the morning of Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 22, this year.
Below is a quick list of your options:
Whole Foods Market
Holidays meals and turkeys are available either in the store or online at www.wholefoodsmarket.com/shop. You can order a holiday meal package, complete with an oven-roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce, or just a sides package or just the turkey. Whole Foods offers an assortment of all-natural and organic, free-range turkeys, as well as turduckens (chicken inside a duck in a turkey).
By the way, Whole Foods now has a “personal shopper” program, which can take care of your grocery list for curbside pickup via phone or email.
Kahala’s Gourmet Dinner
Once again, The Kahala Hotel & Resort is offering its “Thanksgiving at Home” turkey to go. Pickup is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve (Nov. 21) and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22).
The Kahala chefs are fixing a gourmet Thanksgiving dinner for a family of five, including a 14-pound turkey with stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, autumn vegetables with spiced pumpkin seeds, cranberry sauce, fresh-baked bread, vegetable salad with lilikoi vinaigrette and a housemade pumpkin pie. Lanakila Turkey To Go
Lanakila Kitchen is offering its Thanksgiving meals to go, with proceeds supporting Meals on Wheels. The meals include a whole roast turkey, home-style smashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, Nalo greens salad, rolls and a pumpkin pie that can serve 9 to 10 people. Cost is $99.
Pick up meals from Lanakila Kitchen, 1809 Bachelot St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 21 or between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. Orders must be in by today (Nov. 16) by calling Lanakila Kitchen at 533-3054.
Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa Ranch will host a Thanksgiving dinner and show, “Legends of Kualoa” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 Enjoy a buffet of turkey with homemade stuffing, all the trimmings, Kualoa sautéed shrimp, Kiawe smoked prime rib, pineapple and seasonal fruit and pumpkin pie. Kualoa Ranch is at 49-560 Kamehameha Highway. Cost is $49 ($39 for kamaaina) for adults, $39 for children ($29 for kamaaina). Call 237-7321.
3660 on The Rise
If you decide not to cook or order a turkey meal, then enjoy the Thanksgiving Buffet at 3660 on The Rise, available from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Menu highlights include oysters on the half shell, assorted poke, green bean salad, baked ham with pineapple rum raisin sauce, teriyaki miso glazed salmon, yuzu butter sauce, roast turkey, oyster stuffing, roasted prime rib and southern-style candied yams. Cost is $46 for adults and $18 for children ages 3 to 10. Call 737-1177.
Brasserie Du Vin
In case you’ve got your own turkey but want to sweeten up the meal a little more, Brasserie Du Vin’s pastry chef Beth Iwata is baking up a selection of Thanksgiving-themed desserts. Options include a Pumpkin Bourbon Tart with Walnut Crumble ($28), Spiced Pumpkin Lay Cake with Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting & Candied Pecans ($35), Chocolate Truffle Tart with Berries ($29) and Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake with Pecan Crust ($40).
