TOMORROW
D.R.I. will slam and thrash at The Loft
It’s time for the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles — or, as they are more commonly known to the punk music cognoscenti, D.R.I.
The band’s “skanker man” logo is a recognizable icon in American punk, and during a 25-year span, the quartet has continued to mine its recognizable hardcore and metal thrash sound, remaining true to its Houston-cum-San Francisco underground roots. Singer Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy are the band’s lone original members.
Last year, the band’s label Beer City Records reissued some of its classic back catalog.
Local bands Corrupt Absolute, Socially Fu*ked and Irrepressible Heroes will be the opening bands.
Where: The Loft, 115 N. Hotel St.
When: 6 p.m. tomorrow
Cost: $20 advance and $25 at the door

WEDNESDAY
Canadian comedian graces Pipeline Cafe
Lachlan Patterson, at left, gets his laughs the easy way.
Hilarious yet unforced, the Canadian-born comic has done very well ever since he relocated to the U.S. He’s been featured on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” and won the 2010 Comic of the Year accolade from Web-based Rooftop Comedy (where you can see some choice clips of Patterson at work: www.rooftopcomedy.com).
His debut album, “Jokes to Make Love To,” adeptly mixes sex with comedy, a natural combination.
Where: Pipeline Cafe, 805 Pohukaina St.
When: 8 p.m. Wednesday
Cost: $20 general and $40 VIP seating

THURSDAY
Big-time bluegrass duo join the Saloon Pilots
Local bluegrass ensemble Saloon Pilots join forces with guests Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum, below, for a concert next week.
Fiddler Lewis and mandolin plucker Rozum will play and sing with the band for a fine evening of folk, bluegrass, and whatever the group can wrap its strings and voices around.
A two-time winner of the California State Women’s Fiddle Championship, Lewis played fiddle on the Masters of the Five String Banjo tour with the legendary Ralph Stanley. She was twice voted International Bluegrass Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year, and “The Oak and the Laurel,” her collection of duets with Rozum, was nominated for a Grammy in 1996.
Where: Tenney Theatre, St. Andrew’s Cathedral
When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday
Cost: $30 ($23 for Bluegrass Hawaii members)
