Vote now for who you want to play the role of governor in season two of “Hawaii Five-0,” which premieres Sept. 19 on CBS. Voting ends Tuesday, July 5. Results will be announced here on the Pulse on Wednesday, July 6.
Joe Moore, he would be a perfect fit.
Frank DeLima/Mary Tunta
Joe Moore (after all he is the one of the original guys who have been itching for a return)
hey Hawaii…c’mon let’s get @AndyBumatai for GOV…on HI-50…#kanaksonTV
Bumatai is and has been washed up for years.
Mufi Hannemann for Governor, real or otherwise.
Danny DaVito would be most like our current Gov!
I vote for Danny DaVito to play the new Hawaii Gov!
Put a beard on him and he closely resembles the current Gov.
If not Danny, there are a few former Gov. actors available, like Arnold S. and Jesse V. that could play the part.
Mr. Harrington would be a great choice, however he’s already appeared on the show.
It doesn’t really matter if he’s already been on the show. It may be a stretch, but he could always go from surf instructor to governor.
I remember Al Harrington from the original series. As I recall, he played a villain in at least one of the earlier episodes, before becoming a “good guy” on the 5-0 team. In watching re-runs of the original show, I actually enjoy seeing recurring guest actors appear in different roles.
Esmond no ka oi
C’mon, get serious. Andy is da bomb, should be in the show, but governor? No. Surf school owner, tour van operator, maybe the ’5-0 version of Huggy Bear, etc.
Esmond Chung, Looks the part, “Local with sophistication”!
Esmond Chung. Lke Waikiki Sunset said. I like Andy Bumatai but when I see him I chuckle. Esmond has a certain sophisticated take charge feel.
I like this Actor. I know he’s lived on Oahu since 1991.
Some of his work may be seen at
My Vote is for Esmond Chung and his family. How can anyone go wrong? haha with all the family breakdowns we have witnessed in the poltical word it has made me feel my vote is useless to these people. But in the case of Esmond, I feel he has the committment firstly to God, his beautiful wife, and his children. You have my vote.
Linda Lingle she already has the experience as a Gov so that would benefit the show.
You gotta be kidding! They haven’t already decided. Who’s making this decision, CONGRESS!!
Esmond Chung adds authenticity and character to an already awesome new show. The Linda Lingle character needs to be replaced with a “Abercrombe” like character but with much better looks. I’ll bet that Esmond can even surf. JACK LORD RULES !
I did play the President of the U.S. in a student film; Governors are increasingly looked upon favorably as potential Presidents, so thinking in reverse…here’s a link to clips of him as President…
I’m just putting this out there, with no real expectations. I just think the whole idea of voting on an Actor to portray a public figure in a rebooted TV series is hysterical. That and I AM potentially a decent choice. Who knows who really reads any of these things anyway, or even cares.
Kimo Kahohano…would be perfect..he has provided many great hours on Hawaii Stars
And would be a nice touch of Aloha
Anybody but Andy.
We have clowns and comedians in real politics as it is.
I’ve know Esmond Chung for 38 years and he is definitely Governor material! His charm, wit, talent and family values are a plus to the office. He would certainly bring the Aloha Spirit to the Governor’s office! Maybe he could sing on the show… a Singing Governor!…that woul be a first!
Andy, and if he doesn’t want the part, Duke Aiona. Wait, shouldn’t he have been the real governor in the first place?
Joe Moore or Jim Leahey
Moore? Great choice since he’s a stuffed shirt, he would fit right in.
Hey, how about Frank da Lima?
Twayne ta Rock Chonson cheeeehooo!!!!
Okay, you guys are missing the best one. Gov.Abercrombie is the best choice since he is all ready acting like a governor, he would fit right in. He wouldn’t even need a script. Just fire from the hip as he does now without even thinking. Book’em Danno
Is Demetria a nick name for Stooopid and Annoying. Y do fools like you show up anywhere on the planet. Please go overdose somewhere and don’t bother anymore people
uncle danny kaleikini 4 gov!
OK. I ain’t no Betty WHITE. She IS DA BOMB, granted. But I have all the other requirements sewed up. As far as local, what does 20 plus years mean?? Something, I think. As far as the race thang is concerned, if the show is going to cast someone, it’s because the direction of the shows story supports it as a choice; Nothing I can say to change that. May the best Actor win.
Me playing the President and more…
Interesting definition of reboot. Notice the reference to Hawaii 5-0
I like Andy.
teaser leak….richard t. jones from Super 8….
He’s the “Acting Governor”, the person who steps up when the Governor gets whacked. This poll is for Governor. I dunno…
Since the 1st Gov. was sort of modeled after Lingle the next one will probably be a short, balding guy who’s still kind of a hippy.
What IS increasingly obvious, beside me having no life, is this whole
poll is a clear “let’s get a poll together where the choices are between
a white guy living half here and somewhere else, who looks like he
could play a mafia Don, and a popular local celebrity Comedian who is a really funny guy, well liked and received in Hawaii, but not really the sort you’d immediately associate with a politician,
and lastly, a guy who looks like Ohana or the Hawaii demographic- a
family guy who looks like he could be a Realtor who really needs to sell
a house to feed his family, but in reality just wants a recurring role
on a hit rebooted TV series. Oh, I left out the Other category, guess
we’ll just have to depend upon ingenuity and imagination to round it all
Danny Kaleikini. Alooooha!
I think maybe Bumatai…but he would have to shave his head and kneel on his shoes.
Richard T. Jones – Awesome Choice!!!
Hell yes Richard T. Jones IS a great choice! AND, although he is an accomplished Actor, he has no real ties to the Islands that I know of. That was really what this “Poll” was about…
By forming an opinion on a Plot/ Character point from a rebooted Iconic show like 5-0, each and every “vote” becomes like a personal connection. Whatever one thinks about the veracity of this poll, the real results are in already. The choices we make only determine the route we take, unless we’re already at our destination…
Mufi “I’m not the governor, but I play one on TV” Hannemann.
If he’s not “available,” I’d go with Al Harrington or Andy Bumatai. Or one of many other local entertainers. The show could use more “diversity.”
J. Philip Koontz.
J. Philip Koontz
Richard T. Jones, who will be casted as the Lt. Governor, will have to take over the role as the Acting Governor. Who knows, it may lead to a permanent spot for him until a new Governor is elected or appointed.
